چکیده

We have obtained shock compression data for Murchison and Bruderheim chondritic meteorites. Data for Murchison suggest that the Hugoniot states are described by a smooth curve to >_90 GPa. having po = 2.656 Mg/m 3 . Kso = 24.2±.7 GPa, K'= 4.17±. 10, and constant y = 1.0. The data for Bruderheim suggest more complicated behavior. A mineral mixture model consistent with the Bruderheim data suggests that the Hugoniot state is a low pressure phase below 25 GPa, with po = 3.555 Mg/m . Ks, = 146 GPa. K'= 2.53. and constant py = 7.11 Mg/m 3 , and a high pressure phase above 65 GPa. with po = 4.40 Mg/m . Kso = 225 GPa. K'= 3.25, and constant py = 7.485 Mg/m 3 .

Probing the early stages of shock-induced chondritic meteorite formation at the mesoscale

Chondritic meteorites are fragments of asteroids, the building blocks of planets, that retain a record of primordial processes. Important in their early evolution was impact-driven lithification, where a porous mixture of millimetre-scale chondrule inclusions and sub-micrometre dust was compacted into rock. In this Article, the shock compression of analogue precursor chondrite material was prob...

Periodic Wave Shock solutions of Burgers equations

In this paper we investigate the exact peroidic wave shock solutions of the Burgers equations. Our purpose is to describe the asymptotic behavior of the solution in the cauchy problem for viscid equation with small parametr ε and to discuss in particular the case of periodic wave shock. We show that the solution of this problem approaches the shock type solution for the cauchy problem of the in...

Pressure - Temperature - Time Records of Shock in Meteorites

Introduction: The quantification of the transient pressure and temperature conditions that prevailed during shock events in terrestrial and extraterrestrial materials is essential for understanding the dynamics of the solar system formation and evolution. Shock processes can be studied at various levels: morphological traces (craters), transformations in rocks and minerals, comparisons between ...

Chondrules and Nebular Shocks

Beneath the fusion-encrusted surfaces of the most primitive stony meteorites lies not homogeneous rock, but a profusion of millimeter-sized igneous spheres. These chondrules, and their centimeter-sized counterparts, the calcium-aluminum-rich inclusions, comprise more than half of the volume fraction of chondritic meteorites. They are the oldest creations of the solar system. Their chemical comp...

Petrographic Study of Thermal and Shock Metamorphism of the Hungarian

Introduction We investigated two processes in a series of the Hungarian L-chondrites: shock and thermal metamorphism. Thermal metamorphism transforms the textures in the relatively small chondritic planetary body. Shock metamorphism is caused by hypervelocity impact processes transforming texture and mineral structure mainly in the outermost layers of the chondritic planetary body [1,2]. The pu...
